What can I say about Emery...

She is so stinkin cute and always fun to photograph!

I can always count on Kristin

dressing her in the cutest outfits:-)

I love capturing children looking directly in the camera

Emery has the most precious face!

I've had the pleasure of photographing

Emery's big brother Wyatt in the past,

and after Richelle had Eli

I got to take over photographing Emery.

These two will keep you on your twos

and rolling with laughter

Hello Miss Cate!

It is so hard to believe that little Miss Cora

is now a big sister to little Cate.

I photographed Cora when she was 20 days old. . .

oh how time flies by.

What a good big sister!

Cora did such a great job holding baby Cate!

we alwayshave such a fun time with them

and I have to say...

Cate was not much for sleeping that day,

but once she was out, she was out.

I've watched Kennedy and Harrison grow thru the years

and I have to say they are getting so big!

Time flies too fast...

These two kiddos are so well behaved

and have the greatest manners

They are always such a pleasure to photograph

and to just hang out with:-)

Good parenting Jess and Aaron!

Oh, I just love Kennedy's blue eyes

ever since she was a newborn she

has had the most amazing coloring!

Harrison didn't like the grass so

this chair became a favorite little hangout

spot for him!

And even though he was cutting molars,

he still managed the cutest smiles:-)

I've spent a lot of time hanging out with Jess and her family...

I love every time I walk into the house I get to see photos I've taken

all over the walls! I really makes me smile knowing I've been able to

Meet Danielle and Steve, probably two of the most photogenic people I've met!

They were so great to photograph...up for whatever

Danielle looked absolutely amazing!

I was so thrilled to photograph her with natural light,

it really captured that maternal glow:-)

We ventured over to the park

with chair in tow...

I always love these photos outside,

and the long black dress is so elegant...

beautiful!

And would you believe Richelle locked

her keys in the car!

Sweet Ella

I first met Kristi and David a year or so ago...

(oh how time flies)...

They had Richelle and I photograph their wedding,

and little did we all know

I would be photographing their newest addition as well!

I did a double day shoot with Ella

She is such a sweetie with a great little personality:-)

I think David must have thought

us gals were pretty crazy,

but we couldn't pass up this hat!

I've used it before and just love the shape of it:-)

And lets face it...Ella looks so delightfully darling in it!!!

Okay, so this was another idea I had...

I wasn't sure how it would turn out at the time,

poor little Ella seemed to get swallowed up by tulle,

but she loved it, and the final images were so stinkin cute:-)

Kristi and David have a lot of art work in their house...

and this particular painting is a fav of David's:-)

It was so fitting to photograph the two of them

in front of it, and I have to say the color and texture

are pretty amazing:-)

Only a week old!

Sweet baby Maclin!

I love that I get to work so close to

Allie, Rusty and their new precious baby boy

I've been able to photograph him

several times just in the first week of his life,

and all these moments spent with the Brett family

builds such a great relationship:-)

This is when Maclin managed to catch some Zzzz's.

He dozed off long enough for me to

slip this little hat on and capture some really great images!

Allie and Rusty have this huge rug

it works awesome to photograph on...

and Maclin just looks so precious in this little basket...

This was one of my lil' creative visions!

I LOVE how it turned out:-)

I've known Rusty and Allie a few years now...

They are two great people

who really love and care for each other,

but now they seem so complete with the arrival of their baby

With a new year,

comes a new batch of 'newbies'

and I'm so excited for the months ahead:-)

We were so honored to work with Woodcrest Chapel

Sometimes I think people must think we're kinda wacky,

We had this rickety old couch with some pillows thrown on it...

I can only imagine what they must have thought:-)

But these folks had total faith in our creative ideas!

We've had the pleasure of working

with Pieter prior to this shoot.

We talked a little shop and gave him

some advice on camera equipment...

Hope we helped to make his decisions easier!

OMG!

I'm so thrilled to announce that PPA

(Professional Photographers of America)

and the Illinois Workshops has awarded Sally a Scholarship,

which she will be using towards a

week long school this coming June:-)

Many other photographers applied for this scholarship

and Sally was one of two hand selected by the organization...

U go Girl!

She has signed up to work one on one with Julie Klaasmeyer,

a world renown child portrait photographer!

It such an amazing opportunity for her,

and I can't wait to see what new,

fabulous and creative ideas she'll bring back!

Happy 1st Birthday Emery!

Kristin did such an amazing job decorating for the pary!

It looked like something out of a magazine!

What to do on Spring Break?

Introducing Brianna

(who btw likes to be called Bri, and so we shall refer to her as so:-))

This tween was such a bundle of energy...

and up for anything and everything!

Bri's dad Tommy wanted to do something for his gal,

and so he set up this photo session

for the grand finale of her Spring Break

They drove up to Columbia from St Louis just for her!

Friday Fun.Day was all about Bri!!!

Clear out the room folks!

Bri arrived with more clothes than I think I have in my closet,

and I gotta lot o clothes;-)

Such a lucky lady!

Bri had turned 11 in January...what a fabulous age!

We had such a great time with our little photo shoot:-)

What a beautiful smile!

I sometimes had a hard time getting a real "genuine" smile,

course who can smile on command, it's hard!

But leave it to dad. . .

they can always make their girls smile!

Love the Chuck Taylors!

I mean turquoise...ah, and the bright pink, just perfect!

Richelle honored a special request for curly hair!

She did a fabulous job and Bri absolutely loved it!

Loved these pictures at the park!

Bri had a perfect little pedicure with sparkly pink polish. . .

Seriously, love the feet!

She just looked so beautiful in the park, so sweet!

Way to go Tommy!

Bri had a fabulous time and it will be a day she'll never forget!

Lyla Jane

Oh how I have missed that precious face of Miss Lyla Jane!

Other than our webcam visits and pictures from mommy and daddy. . . .

I have been deprived of those sweet cheeks

since my trip up north to Wisconsin (her 6 wk photo shoot)

She is even more beautiful than I ever could have imagined!

Micah moved with her husband Jason

to Wisconsin while pregnant with Lyla. . .

I miss them so much!

These little trips made are so, sooo special

I feel fortunate that I am still able

to document Lyla's stages

even with them being so far away. . .

Micah and her headbands. . .

probably one of the girliest gals I know

and for her to have a little girl. . .how perfect:-)

During the shoot, Micah said that she needed

this exact outfit in a bigger size,

I don't think she wants to give it up;-)

Lyla loved grabbing those precious little feet!

Carson

Meet Carson...a man with many faces!

This is Carson's second visit to Stella Studios

and once again he was full of personality:-)

This is Carson's sour puss face.

He would smile one second and then give me this look...

I thought it was priceless:-)

I mean this is what it's all about...

capturing all the little expressions a child can and will dish out!

In his amazement, when Carson would put his sunglasses on

he immediately would comment on how dark it was.

Shades on..."Oh! It's dark in here!!"

Shades off..."Ah! I can see:-)"

Ok, I had to keep this pic!

Apparently there is a young man at Carson's daycare

who is quite the mischievous troublemaker.

So he thought he would demonstrate

what would happen when 'Avery Michael'

would get caught...

"No, NO! Avery Michael!!!" Carson would yell

And thus was the end of my shoot with Mr Gamlin...

Entertaining to say the least:-)

Can't wait to see him again next year!

UGLY COUCH

Hello eveyone!

Sally and I wanted to update you on our upcoming event at Stella Studios.

We originally planned for this event to fall on the 16th and 17th,

but we've decided to change the date to April 30th and May 1st!

We felt the previous dates were too short of notice:-)

This event will be a discounted session, and will be held onlocation near our studio.

I will be posting more details on this fun and exciting event in the next few days!

Colin

Another Baby's 1st year client all grown up...

no longer a baby, Colin is officially a toddler,

and quite a handsome one at that:-)

Richelle and I first met Shannon and James

when we photographed their wedding...

I remember we joked that when they had kids to give us call.

At the time they were living in Chicago,

but not long after they were married

Shannon and James moved to the St Charles area

and our phone rang...

We've been their personal paparazzi ever since:-)

Colin has had the most amazing

blue eyes since he was a baby:-)

We started this session outdoors,

and after a while of walking around,

Colin worked up and appetite.

He insisted that I sit with him and join him for graham crackers:-)

How could I pass up this sweet little lunch date;-)

It was great to see Shannon, James and Mr Colin...

I hope I can continue to road trip it out east,

as their little family is growing and soon there will be another Hodges!

Where do the weeks go?

My little man will be 10 weeks April 7th...

where did the time go! And if it's bad now,

I can't even image how fast the years will fly by...

Once again Lili was on the up and up

& informed me that Eli needed his 2 month photos taken.

I had intended on only doing his pics,

but she insisted on me getting in a few...

I'm glad I did.

Sally really out did herself this time,

I absolutely love all the images,

now I know how hard it is for our clients to choose:-)

Eli loves to grab onto his blankets

or any fabric for that matter and pull it up to his face.

I think it's super sweet...

He has his fathers ears!

Somehow I always new he would...

Is this not the most beautiful bed spread.

Sally bought this for herself because she fell in love with it,

but it also makes for great photos!

I should also credit his father for his eylashes.

Chris (my husband) has extraordinry long lashes,

and looks like Eli has got them too!

They grow fuller and longer everyday...

Words can not even begin to describe what it's like being a mom,

I honestly never really saw myself as a mom,

but now, I can't imagine my life without my little man

And at Stella Studios we thought 'Why not add our own event'

And so we did...

Oh, Boy! Oh Boy!

These little tykes are quite the pair!

Once again I have a set of twins from birth and on:-)

2009 was the year for duplicates at Stella Studios,

and I loved every bit of it!

Every little boy has his fav toy,

and that was no exception for these two!

Thomas the Train was their toy of choice...

& of course they had to be photographed with the little steam engine:-)

Sometimes we just aren't feeling photo time....

But hang'n with mom and Thomas always makes these times better:-)

Until the cake comes out...

And then the sugar sets in

and things are just a tad better than they were:-)

I love these times!

Ben turns 1

Ben has turned one year old...Crazy how fast time flies!

I first met Emily (Ben's Mom) when she brought his older brother

Grant in for his pics, and then shortly after Ben arrived,

and I've been fortunate enough to now get the opportunity

to capture both these little guys growing up:-)

Ben started off this session looking at me

like I was some crazy lady with a camera

But that didn't stop me from capturing some fabulous photos!

I mean check out those baby blues:-)

Oh the army crawl...

I had know idea a child could move so fast using only his arms!!!

In the end Ben warmed up to me and my crazy camera

and I was able to capture some really great images of him!

It's always a bittersweet moment when the babies

I've been photographing since newbie come in for their 1 year birthday.

The fact that I get the opportunity to watch them

grow through my lens is such and amazing experience:-)

Reece and Otto are so adorable!

They have two totally different personalities

I love watching twins and how they differ from one and other,

yet are also so much alike

The boys had a slight meltdown pre cake diving...

Oh Otto...I'd feel the same way after a sugar high!

Kim is such an amazing mom, and she has the cutest boys..

and not to mention the sweetest little girl!

It's these photo shoots that remind me why I'm a photographer.

Casey and Lance are getting married

this coming Saturday March 27th!

It's been a whirlwind planning and preparing for the big day,

Casey did it in three months!

Photos With Truman!

On March 1st & 2nd Sally and I got the

opportunity to give to a great cause.

For a small donation children of all ages paid a visit to our studio

and spent some time with Columbia's most popular feline,

Truman the Tiger!

Tia Odom made all the arrangements for the photo shoot

and put the word out to excited fans.

She was so amazing at organizing this little event

and we have to say she did a wonderful job!

Donations went to Rainbow House an organization

that focuses on keeping children safe and

supporting families in crisis through prevention, assessment,

and intervening in child abuse and neglect.

Madison was so excited to spend time with Truman,

she had even drawn him a portrait. . .

This is Eli, my sugar bean. . .or so I've come to call him these days:-)

I'm not so sure he knows what to think of Truman.

At least his encounter didn't end in tears,

as mine had when I was first introduced to

Truman at the tender age of 4!

By the end of the day, I think Truman was tired. . .

He did an amazing job and so did everyone that came and had there pics taken!

Sally spotted this tree and took this pic...

I think it's hidden behind brush in the spring & summer,

I know we've walked by it several times and never gave it a second glance,

so it was quite the find:-)

I just love the shape and color of it!

LOL...We got this look a lot during Piper's photo shoot!
